Pharmacy compounding is the art and science of preparing customized medications for patients. This practice dates back to the origins of pharmacy, but compounding’s presence in the pharmacy profession has evolved throughout the years.
Within the last three decades, compounding has experienced a resurgence, as modern technology and innovative techniques and research have allowed more pharmacists to customize medications to meet specific patient needs.
There are several reasons why pharmacists compound prescription medications. The most important one is what the medical community calls “patient non-compliance.” Many patients are allergic to preservatives or dyes, or are sensitive to standard drug strengths. With a physician’s consent, we can change the strength of a medication, alter its form to make it easier for the patient to ingest, or add flavor to make it more palatable.
Pharmacists at Innovative Compounding Pharmacy can also prepare medications using several unique delivery systems, such as a sublingual troche or lozenge, a lollipop, or a transdermal gel or cream that can be absorbed through the skin.

We are a compounding only pharmacy. Our pharmacists have over 20 years of combined experience in compounding and attend several seminars and symposiums each year.
Our state-of-the-art clean room exceeds USP 797 guidelines. Innovative Compounding Pharmacy is the only compounding pharmacy with a sterile license from the State Board of Pharmacy in Sacramento County. Our staffs are certified by PCCA and have gone through extensive training.
We offer Sterile Injectables, Preservative-Free Formulations, Eye Drops, Intravenous Drugs (I.V.) Intramuscular Drugs (I.M.), Subcutaneous (S.C. or S.Q.) and many other Sterile Compounds.
We test our sterile products for Sterility, Potency, Fungus and pathogens.
ICPFolsom Can Prepare:

- Special medication dosage forms that are not commercially available, including, troches, “chewies”, and lollipops.
- Combinations of various compatible medications into a single dosage form for easier administration and improved compliance.
